December brought Christmas, of course, and so much more!
We celebrated Grandpa Charlie’s birthday with Grandma and with two of his favorite sweet treats (Butter Pecan ice cream and chocolate-covered pretzels). The girls woke up thinking it would be really special to celebrate him since we “remember him in Heaven”.
The girls’ dance team had their first game – but not at CHCA. Instead, at halftime of a UC Bearcats game!
They also had their CHCA PK-Kindergarten Christmas Program, during which I forgot my SD card (borrowed another), had no zoom lens, and during which Elise went crazy and flipped her dress up quickly and repeatedly, hung on her sister, ticked Avery off and probably made everyone uncomfortable. Oh, kids.
And also, during which, Avery turned into her mama. Oh, wait. That’s not new.
We celebrated St. Nick Day on 12/6 and celebrated Christmas Eve Eve with church (on 12/23, if you’d prefer not to think tonight). The girls got to have a birthday party for Jesus at Pump It Up, and our worship service and gospel message were a great way to officially kick off Christmas in our family!
We’ve had a ton of snow for December (seriously. insane) so the girls and I got to play outside and build a (tiny) snowman, all the while belting out songs from Frozen.
Our whole family traveled through the one layer of the Candy Cane Forest at the Festival of Lights, but only stayed at the zoo for an hour and half because it was freezing. Or so we thought….. today our windchill is -40, so there’s that.
Elise and Avery’s Kindergarten class got to share the Bible verse for the last chapel of 2013, before coming home and getting to really help with Cookie Day for the first year. As in, they were *actually* really helpful.
Kyle and I hosted the third of our Fall/Winter Fellowship small group, this one an ugly sweater party. It was such a fun group of 15-20 people!
Stay tuned for the remainder of December – our Christmas and New Years Celebrations!
